DOWN A CAROLINA ROAD
Yes . . . I am at it again - quilting again!
Read the story below about this quilt.
If you are interested in attending an upcoming quilting class in April please contact me at lisacarol99.gmail.com
This quilt is huge! Already 97 inches wide x 70 inches. . . and that is without the borders on all four sides that will be the width of the rows you see here in this picture. It all started a few weeks ago when I finished making quilts for Christmas gifts, then a couple more quilts for some precious babies. Then my sweet husband mentioned he would like one for our King size bed. So, since he WAS kind enough to gift me with my new sewing machine for Christmas . . . I decided yes indeed I will make one for our bed.
This quilt is called a pinwheel design. In my previous blogs you will see a mini tutorial on how to make these blocks. It is time consuming but rather easy - it just looks really difficult. Then I began to piece each individual square to make a row. Rather than sew the rows together to finish the quilt top - I decided to quilt each row individually and then I will eventually sew these rows together with a sashing or maybe decorative ribbon. These rows have already been quilted - top, batting and backing. Not sure yet if I will use ribbon or make sashing yet - either way it is going to be challenging to manipulate this large quilt in the sewing machine arm. . . but I am determined. This is the largest quilt I have ever made, certainly one of the most challenging - but I really like how it is coming together and wanted to share this picture with you. Forgive me for the poor quality of this picture - again a professional photographer I am not!
Be sure to keep following this blog if you are interested in the April quilting class that will be a fund raiser for a mission trip to Guatemala. Our youngest son will be going in August to Guatemala and these funds will be used to help with his expense of the trip and to purchase building supplies when the reach Guatemala. We are very excited for him to go and experience working for others in an area that simply just needs a pavilion shelter built so that they can have school and bible lessons in the shade. How incredibly spoiled we are here in our wonderful United States! Please pray for this team that will go on the mission trip and for our son that his first experience on a mission trip will prove beneficial for the people he will go to serve in
Los Limones, Guatemala.
